Electrical Design Engineer – Contract

Location: Sande, Norway

Contract length: Six months

Start date: ASAP

Working arrangement: Three days per week on-site

Role overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of modular electrical and critical-power systems.

The position is based in Sande, approximately one hour from Oslo by train, and requires three days per week on-site. The successful contractor will work alongside engineering, project and production teams to develop electrical designs and ensure that technical documentation is accurate, compliant and suitable for manufacture and installation.

Candidates should have strong professional EPLAN experience or substantial experience designing UPS and battery systems. Electrical design experience from data centres, modular construction, oil and gas, marine, power systems or industrial automation will be considered.

Responsibilities

- Develop and update electrical designs using EPLAN.
- Produce electrical schematics, single-line diagrams and technical drawings.
- Support the design of UPS, battery and critical-power systems.
- Design LV power-distribution systems, switchboards and control panels.
- Prepare equipment specifications, cable information and bills of materials.
- Review technical requirements and translate them into practical electrical designs.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable project specifications and electrical standards.
- Coordinate design interfaces with mechanical, automation, production and project teams.
- Review vendor and supplier documentation.
- Support technical queries arising during manufacturing, installation and commissioning.
- Update designs and produce accurate as-built documentation.
- Identify technical issues and support design improvements throughout project delivery.

Essential experience

Candidates must offer strong experience in at least one of the following areas:

- Professional EPLAN electrical design
- UPS, battery or critical-power system design

Candidates should also have:

- Previous experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, Electrical Engineer, E&I Engineer or Electrical Project Engineer.
- Experience producing and reviewing electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of LV power distribution, switchgear, switchboards or control panels.
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
- Strong understanding of electrical design standards and engineering practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned design deliverables.
- Professional English communication skills.

Desirable experience

- Modular construction or prefabricated electrical packages.
- Data-centre or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Packaged power systems, e-houses or electrical rooms.
- Industrial automation and control systems.
- Oil-and-gas, offshore or marine electrical design.
- Manufacturing or production support.
- UPS systems, battery banks or energy-storage systems.

Contract requirements

- Available to start as soon as possible.
- Able to work on-site in Sande three days per week.
- Willing to work through Cool Company.
- Comfortable with 30-day payment terms.
- Able to provide their own laptop.
