**The Role 💼**
As Counter Manager, you’ll own and lead PIE VAT operations at Oslo Airport. You’ll ensure a smooth and efficient experience for international travelers while building and managing a high-performing team.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be close to the action - supporting customers, guiding your team, and making sure everything runs seamlessly in a fast-paced airport environment.
**What You’ll Do**
**🚀 Counter & Customer Operations**
- Oversee daily counter operations and ensure fast, compliant VAT refund processing
- Review and approve VAT refund claims (documentation + goods inspection)
- Deliver a smooth, helpful experience for international travelers
- Handle customer inquiries via email and support tools
- Identify friction points and improve the customer journey
**👥 Team Leadership & Development**
- Recruit, train, and lead counter staff
- Manage schedules, staffing, and daily operations
- Set clear routines, service standards, and onboarding processes
- Ensure strong performance during peak hours
**🤝 Merchant & Partner Management**
- Act as the main point of contact for airport stakeholders
- Coordinate logistics for merchant materials and partner needs
- Ensure the counter is always fully operational and well-equipped
**⚙️ Operations & Growth**
- Improve processes for scalability and efficiency
- Track performance and key operational metrics
- Support expansion to new locations
- Collaborate with Product, Tech, and Business teams
**What We’re Looking For**
**Experience**
- 3+ years in a customer-facing role (retail, travel, hospitality, fintech, etc.)
- Experience leading or supervising teams
- Experience with international customers
- Experience in airport operations, retail, or VAT/tax-free is a plus
**Skills & Mindset**
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-oriented
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Digitally confident and quick to learn new tools
**Languages 🌐**
- Fluent in English and Norwegian (written and spoken)
- German and/or Mandarin are strong advantages
- Additional European languages are a plus
