We are seeking a motivated Technical Manager to lead the scientific and technical coordination of a flagship 3-year European-funded R&D project (EDF/EDA).
In this role, you will support the Project Director by ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery across a multi-partner consortium. You will work at the interface of classical numerical simulation (FEA/SPH) and emerging quantum computing methods, shaping the next generation of defense-related simulations.
This is an ideal role for an early-to-mid-career professional who combines a deep background in numerical methods with curiosity for quantum algorithms and talent for international project coordination.
**Key responsibilitiesScientific & Project Coordination**
- Monitor Work Package progress toward scientific objectives and milestones.
- Maintain project work plan; identify and handle technical or organizational challenges.
- Coordinate technical and scientific meetings across the European consortium.
- Track European scientific and policy developments to ensure project relevance.
- Prepare technical reports and milestone documentation for the Board of Partners.
- Foster connections with related European projects.
**Applied Technical Activities**
- Lead the definition of use cases and requirements for quantum-accelerated simulations.
- Design and implement novel algorithms, verifying them within FEA or SPH frameworks.
- Manage pre- and post-processing of numerical simulations and evaluate results.
- Collaborate with subcontractors on experiments and specific use cases.
**Ethics, Security & Data Protection**
- Act as Ethics, Security, and Data Protection Officer for the project.
- Ensure compliance with EU Restricted standards and data handling protocols.
**Qualifications**
- M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Applied Physics, or related field.
- Strong background in FEA or SPH; experience with commercial/in-house numerical codes beneficial.
- Curious about Quantum Computing; not required to be an expert.
- Security clearance for EU/NATO required.
- Fluent in English; able to review and edit complex technical deliverables.
- A few years of R&D or technical project experience preferred.
- Self-driven, bridging high-level project management and hands-on technical verification.
